Kalyan Matka is one of the many ways in which the popular gambling game Matka presents itself in India, where it is currently banned.
It is not really much different from the most played version of Satta Matka, but its popularity makes it deserve a glossary of its own.

Here, you will learn the basics that every beginner needs, aside from the explanation of terms such as open and close, Ank, Jodi, and the differences between the two drawings.
More importantly, this page does not recommend playing Matka at shops in India because it is a banned game. We advise you to choose the online legal Matka provided by a company duly headquartered in a foreign country:
Kalyan Matka, which could also be called Matka Kalyan, is a daily lottery game with the same rules used to play Satta Matka. Its name is a tribute to Kalyanji Gala Bhagat, creator of Worli Matka in 1962. That is probably why the game preserves the traditional rules so that it does not differ much from the origin of Matka.
You can check out our full content on how to play Matka to have a better idea of how the traditional game works, as well as the legal online version. If you are more interested in terms of Kalyan Matka only, check out the information below.
The terms Open and Close refer to each of the two drawing phases in a day of Kalyan Matka. In each phase, three digits from 0 to 9 are drawn – always in ascending order. For example, the Open results could be 3, 5, and 9. The sum of these numbers is also considered to be part of the drawing.
However, you will always ignore the first digit. Therefore, as the sum of 3, 5, and 9 equals 17, we take 1 out and consider only 7. The Open results would be 3 5 9 * 7, which makes more sense once you understand the concept of Ank and Jodi.
The Close drawing is exactly like the Open one, only a second drawing with the same rules. If you were to play Kalyan Matka in India, you could bet on only one of them or both at once.
The terms Kalyan Night and Kalyan Day are just another way of referring to the closing and opening draws of Kalyan Matka, respectively. In the now illegal shops, they are often separated into a day and a night drawing, hence the names.
The number resulting from the sum of the numbers in a drawing is the Ank. Therefore, in the example above, in which the sum of the numbers and elimination of the first resulting digit resulted in 7, that would be the Ank.
The Open and Close drawings of Kalyan Matka have one Ank each. When we combine the two Anks, without using any mathematical operation, we have the Jodi. Therefore, let’s imagine that the closing draw had 6 as its Ank. The Jodi of that day would be 76.
Panel, Panna, or Pana are common names that may be used to designate the three drawn numbers in the Open and Close drawings. Using the same example to make it easier to understand, “3 5 9” would be the Panna of that Open draw.
Therefore, each day of Kalyan Matka drawings is composed of the opening and the closing Panna. Together, they sum up to form the Ank, and the combination of the two Anks is the Jodi. Really easy to understand, right?
We advise not to play Kalyan Matka in India and prefer the online version called Jhatka Matka. Still, just out of curiosity, you can check out how to read a Kalyan Matka chart, which is disclosed the illegal schemes that still exist in India. One day, when it becomes legal again, you will know what to look for:

Notice that there are two drawings every day from Monday through Saturday, separated as “O” (Open) and “C” (Close). Each one has three numbers, and the Jodi is often disclosed between them. The left number in the Jodi is the opening’s Ank, and the right number equals the closing’s Ank.
The Jodi numbers in red result in no payment because they are either equal or because the distance between the Opening and the Closing Ank is 5.
